Did I just say 14 days left? I think I am going to faint!

I think it all kicked in when I went on line and selected our seats in advance, made me realise this
ticket was not bogus from some website I didn't recognize. That there is actually a flight and I am going to be on it..

Who knew time would actually go by and get closer to the date.

With all the interruptions and hardships of life, it is definitely nice to say, we just have 14 days left until we leave everything we know, for something completely different with radio silence! Time to refocus and start fresh.

Packing should be interesting... I started 2 months ago, and the suitcase is still in the closet. Not to mention the list of 40 to do items (that's small, according to what it was 2 months ago), hopefully I can narrow them down next week. Did I mention this week is my last week at work? I have never taken more than a month off since I was 15? Shiza. This should be interesting, I wonder how long I will last.

Let's just hope our house will be rented too, that's kind of important.

I guess it's kind of nerve racking leaving the country with only ONE ticket.. that's right, we only have one, and just one reservation for a place for 6 days in Melbourne. But I think I am ready for summer though, I like winter and ours hasn't been so bad.

See you on the other side of.. the world? :)

-Anna

PS. if the end of the world will happen on Friday, firstly I will be PISSED secondly I am going to demand a refund for my ticket. They better be ready for me!
What?
We (Anna and Ali) have decided to leave the comfortable couch called Canada and embark on a crazy, wild homelessness for the next 6 months. We leave... on January 1st, 2013 with a one way ticket to Melbourne, Australia. Whoowee. . .

We will be watching the sunrise and sunset of Ayers Rock in Australia, Dancing with the Māori's in New Zealand, Volunteering in rural Thailand, Spiritual exploration in Malaysia, Shopping in Singapore, Driving mopeds while hanging out with monkeys in Bali, Walking the Great Wall of China, and hopefully stopping to eat in Ukraine.

We made a commitment well over a year ago to each other. We committed to do this incredible journey together and come out of it on the other end having experienced something truly incredible.
We are calling this  The Trip Of Our Lifetime.
I have to admit, it was Anna's idea to make such a grand adventure out of it. I was frankly stuck in my comfortable little box not wanting to come out. Something Anna has helped me do more than once since we've met. This is big. Being away from your normal life and daily routine for a week or two is one thing. For many, a month is a lot, and it is. But to take 6 months off is something different entirely.

Anna and I are restless spirits. We crave adventure. Living in Calgary is very comfortable and rewarding, but it only allows us to see the rest of the world from a safe distance, through books and news reports.

We say screw safe distance, let's get dirty!

....Why?

A lot of people have asked me why we're taking this trip. We have a multitude of good reasons. The biggest one is .... because we can and should.

I have realised that life is very short. Many people have told me, and even I used to think, that you have time later. You work now and save up so that you travel when you're older. But...time is never right and the opportunity has to be created.

Seriously... WHAT?
Yea, Seriously.. We are leaving in 51 days. We have created a skeleton map of where we would like to go. It is located under "Travel Map". Located below the skeleton map is our "Actual" map, to what we have booked and where we have actually been.

Also if you need some of contact info, and how to get a hold of us while we are "trekking" see our About Page.

So Join Us! On our adventure of our lifetime. We will be updating this regularly with photos and stories of our travels and experiences.
